Madeline Soto: Stephan Sterns waives appearance following discovery of teen's body in Osceola County

Stephan Sterns misses court appearance, faces disturbing charges. Prime suspect in Maddie Soto's disappearance, evidence shows he tried to cover tracks.

Stephan Sterns failed to show up for his initial court appearance in Osceola County, much to the dismay of his lawyer who wanted to avoid the judge reading out the serious charges against him. Among these charges were sexual battery and possession of explicit material involving minors. Sterns had willingly handed over his phone to investigators, who discovered disturbing photos and videos on the device.

In addition to these charges, Sterns was also the main suspect in the disappearance of Maddie Soto. After an extensive search, Maddie's body was found by search teams in the woods of Osceola County. The judge ordered Sterns to remain in custody.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office transferred the case to Kissimmee Police, with Sheriff John Mina revealing evidence that Sterns had attempted to cover up Maddie's death. Surveillance footage showed Sterns disposing of items in a dumpster in a Kissimmee apartment complex. Detectives later found Maddie's belongings in that same dumpster.

Body language experts analyzed Sterns' behavior during a Zoom interview with Jenn Soto, shedding light on his possible motives. Former Orlando Police chief, Orlando Rolon, suggested that Sterns may have believed he could outsmart investigators, only to be caught for the murder of Maddie. Kissimmee police declined to provide further updates on the case, leaving the public to speculate on the tragic events surrounding Maddie's death.
