Gary Sinise son dies cancer 33

Gary Sinise announced the passing of his son, McCanna Anthony "Mac" Sinise, at 33 after a battle with rare cancer.

Gary Sinise shared the heartbreaking news of his son, McCanna Anthony "Mac" Sinise's passing at the age of 33. Mac fought a valiant battle against Chordoma, a rare form of cancer that originates in the spine, but tragically succumbed to the disease on January 5.

The journey began when Mac was diagnosed with Chordoma on August 8, 2018. Despite undergoing treatment, his condition deteriorated over time, gradually leaving him disabled as the illness progressed.

Prior to his diagnosis, Mac served as an assistant manager of education and outreach at the Gary Sinise Foundation. He was also a gifted drummer, showcasing his musical talents alongside his father's band, Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band. Furthermore, Mac was a graduate of the University of Southern California, where he focused on studying songwriting and composition.

Throughout his illness, Mac underwent multiple spine surgeries and eventually became paralyzed from the chest down. Despite these immense challenges, he collaborated with others to create an album titled "Resurrection & Revival," which was completed just before his passing.

Gary expressed his family's profound sorrow over Mac's loss and acknowledged the immense difficulty of coping with such a devastating loss. He highlighted Mac's resilience and determination in facing his illness, noting his unwavering spirit throughout the 5 ½ years of their family's cancer fight.

Mac is survived by his parents, Gary and Moira, his sisters Sophie and Ella, their children, as well as other relatives and caregivers. Gary assured that Mac's album would be released and pressed on vinyl to honor his memory.
