eligible $100 million Verizon class action settlement know

Verizon customers could get part of a $100 million settlement. Check if you qualify for a payout before the April 15 deadline!

Verizon customers may soon be eligible to receive part of a proposed $100 million class action settlement, following a lawsuit filed in New Jersey. The lawsuit alleges that customers with certain monthly plans were charged undisclosed administration fees in a "deceptive and unfair manner." The settlement applies to charges issued between January 1, 2016, and November 8, 2023, and affected customers have until the spring to file a claim.

The class action lawsuit involves individuals suing on behalf of themselves and others with similar claims. Once approved, every member of the class is awarded, except for those who choose to opt out. In this case, the suing party and Verizon have agreed to a settlement to resolve the lawsuit, despite Verizon denying any wrongdoing.

Customers who opt into the lawsuit cannot sue Verizon over the issue in the future. Verizon will continue to charge the administrative fee in question and contends that it has the right to increase the charge. As part of the settlement, Verizon will amend its Customer Agreement to include revised Administrative Charge disclosures.

Current and former customers with wireless or data services that were charged administrative fees between January 1, 2016, and November 8, 2023, are eligible for up to $100 each. The final amount each customer will receive depends on their length of service. Eligible customers must file a claim by April 15, 2024, to receive a settlement payment. Those who do not file a claim will lose any rights to sue Verizon over these issues and be legally bound by all orders and judgments the court makes on the lawsuit.

To opt-out of the lawsuit, a signed request for exclusion must be mailed to the Verizon Administrative Charge Settlement Administrator by February 20, 2024. For more information or to start a claim, visit www.VerizonAdministrativeChargeSettlement.com.
