Mother's Day is a special occasion celebrated globally to honor the women who have played a significant role in our lives. It is a time to show appreciation and affection for the mothers who have supported us throughout our journey from childhood to adulthood.

The modern American version of Mother's Day was proposed in 1870 by Julia Ward Howe, an abolitionist and social activist. The holiday was later copyrighted by Anna Jarvis, who wanted to honor her late mother. Despite its commercialization in the 1920s, the essence of Mother's Day remains to celebrate and cherish the love and sacrifices of mothers.

In 2020, second-graders in Frenchville shared heartfelt reasons why their mothers should be celebrated. From cooking delicious meals to providing unconditional love and support, these children highlighted the various roles and qualities that make their mothers special.

A mother's role is multifaceted, requiring a balance of discipline, nurture, and love. Whether through biological birth, adoption, fostering, or other paths, motherhood comes in many forms. It is essential to recognize and celebrate all mothers for their dedication and love.
