Purdue University Northwest Inducts Region Icons into Alumni Hall of Fame

Purdue University Northwest welcomes 3 new Alumni Hall of Fame inductees, highlighting their leadership, community impact, and regional influence.

Purdue University Northwest (PNW) recently honored three outstanding individuals by inducting them into its prestigious Alumni Hall of Fame. The 2024 inductees, Hammond Mayor Thomas McDermott, Jr., retired Judge Diane Kavadias Schneider, and Strack & Van Til President & CEO Jeff Strack, were recognized not only for their professional accomplishments but also for their contributions to their communities and dedication to PNW.

The induction ceremony took place at PNW's Alumni Hall, located in the Student Union and Library Building, where the new inductees joined a distinguished group of past honorees. The event was a celebration of the strong connection between the university and its alumni, highlighting the valuable impact that PNW graduates have on society.

Professor Pat Obi, who introduced both Strack and McDermott, emphasized the importance of the relationships between students and professors at PNW. Strack, who completed his MBA at PNW in 2000, credited his professors for not only teaching him valuable business skills but also for investing in his success and building lifelong relationships.

Judge Schneider, the first woman to be inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame, shared similar sentiments about the foundational role that PNW played in her career. She emphasized the university's emphasis on giving back to the community, a value that she has carried throughout her professional life.

All three inductees have demonstrated a commitment to philanthropy and community service, with McDermott's support of Hammond's College Bound scholarship program being a standout example. Through their actions, they have inspired others to strive for excellence and make a positive impact in their communities.

The plaques honoring the Class of 2024 now adorn the walls of the Student Union and Library Building, serving as a reminder of their achievements and contributions. Their legacy will continue to inspire future generations of PNW alumni to reach greater heights and make a difference in the world.
