Despite testing negative for 90 different cancer genes in a genetic test conducted in February 2023, Munn's doctor decided to assess her Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Score, a decision that ultimately saved her life. Following a high score and subsequent imaging tests, Munn discovered she had an aggressive form of cancer in both breasts, leading to her decision to undergo a double mastectomy.

Throughout the past 10 months, Munn has undergone four surgeries, with her partner John Mulaney by her side every step of the way. She expressed gratitude towards her loved ones for their unwavering support and shared the touching gesture of Mulaney placing framed photos of their son Malcolm by her side during each surgery.
