Marjorie Taylor Greene confronts Biden during State of the Union and hands him a button

GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene confronts President Biden over illegal immigrant killing nursing student, demanding he "Say her name."

On Thursday, GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from Georgia took a bold step by confronting President Joe Biden as he made his way to deliver his State of the Union address. She handed him a pin and urged him to "Say her name," in reference to 22-year-old Laken Riley, a nursing student at Augusta University who was tragically killed by an illegal alien on February 22.

Laken Riley was out for a run on the University of Georgia campus in Athens when 26-year-old Venezuelan Jose Antonio Ibarra allegedly took her life. President Biden, in response to Greene's plea, assured her that he knew how to say the name.

Greene took to social media to share a video of her encounter with Biden, expressing her disappointment that he did not acknowledge Laken Riley. The Hill reported that Ibarra had entered the country illegally in El Paso, Texas, in September 2022 and was subsequently released into the country by the Border Patrol.

President Biden's immigration policies, implemented since taking office in January 2021, have been the subject of much controversy. These policies included ending the "remain in Mexico" policy, halting the construction of the border wall, and reinstating the practice of catch-and-release. These changes have resulted in a staggering number of over 7 million illegal border crossings in the first three years of his presidency.

In response to the tragic incident involving Laken Riley, a bill is being proposed that would require the detention of any migrant charged with committing burglary or theft. The Atlanta-Journal Constitution reported that Ibarra had previously been arrested and charged with shoplifting at a Wal-Mart in Athens, Georgia, but failed to appear in court.

The encounter between Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and President Joe Biden highlights the ongoing debate surrounding immigration policies and the consequences of illegal border crossings. It serves as a reminder of the real-life impact of these policies on individuals and communities across the country.
