Gary Sinise, best known for his role in Forrest Gump, recently announced the heartbreaking news of the death of his son, McCanna "Mac" Anthony Sinise, who passed away at the age of 33 after battling the rare spinal cancer Chordoma for several years.

In a touching tribute on his foundation's website, Sinise shared the news of his son's passing and revealed that Mac had recently completed work on his album, Resurrection & Revival. Tragically, Mac lost his battle with cancer just as the album was being finalized for release.

The actor expressed the deep pain and heartbreak that he and his family are experiencing, emphasizing the difficulty of losing a child. He extended his sympathy to others who have suffered similar losses and acknowledged the profound impact of losing a loved one.

Sinise also reflected on the challenges of their family's cancer fight, describing it as a long and arduous battle. Despite the uphill struggle against a cancer with no cure, Mac never gave up, displaying incredible resilience and determination. Sinise likened his son to the soldier in the film 1917, who perseveres through a relentless onslaught, refusing to quit and continuing to move forward.

Chordoma, a rare cancer that affects only a small number of people each year, presented a formidable challenge for Mac. Despite undergoing two spinal surgeries, the cancer returned, leading to a prolonged and debilitating battle.

In addition to his personal projects, Mac was also a drummer in his father's band, the Lt. Dan Band, named after Sinise's character in Forrest Gump. Sinise, known for his roles in iconic films such as Apollo 13 and The Green Mile, expressed his pride and gratitude for being Mac's father.

The album, Resurrection & Revival, is currently available for pre-order, with proceeds going to the Gary Sinise Foundation, which provides support for military veterans.
