Klopp goes mad Liverpool star stretchered Carabao Cup final

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp furious after Moises Caicedo escaped punishment for challenge, injuring Ryan Gravenberch in Carabao Cup final.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was left furious during the Carabao Cup final when Chelsea's Moises Caicedo was not penalized for a tackle that resulted in Ryan Gravenberch being stretchered off the field.

The Merseyside team had a strong start at Wembley and created numerous opportunities, with Caoimhin Kelleher making a crucial save to prevent Cole Palmer from scoring in the lively first half.

Liverpool entered the match without several key players and suffered another injury setback when Gravenberch was caught late by Caicedo, who had already committed several fouls without being penalized. Despite the severity of the tackle, Caicedo escaped with only a warning, leading to Gravenberch being taken off the field, much to Klopp's dismay.

Gary Neville, commenting on Sky Sports, noted Klopp's frustration, stating, "Jurgen Klopp is going mad. He is literally going mad over there." He continued by describing the interaction between the on-field referee and the VAR official, as well as Klopp's reaction to the decision.

Former referee Mike Dean also weighed in, expressing concern about the severity of Caicedo's challenges and the potential need for a yellow card. Jamie Carragher added that while the tackle may not have warranted a red card, Caicedo had previously been fortunate to avoid being booked for an earlier challenge.

The incident left Liverpool with a dilemma, as they were already short on options for substitutes. The frustration of Klopp and his coaching staff was evident, and there were questions about how the team would regroup and adjust their strategy following Gravenberch's injury.

In a separate development, Martin Odegaard disclosed that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta used the controversy surrounding their match against Newcastle as motivation for the players.
