Tyler Perry's latest romantic thriller "Mea Culpa" is his fifth project with Netflix, as part of his multi-year first-look film deal announced in 2023. The movie stars Kelly Rowland as Mea Harper, a defense attorney who becomes entangled in a dangerous love affair with Zyair Malloy, a man accused of murdering his girlfriend.

Perry was inspired by 90s thrillers and wanted to pay homage to the rich, flavorful, and twisty stories of that era. He praised Rowland's dedication to her role, stating that she brought all of her artistry as a singer and artist to her performance in the film. Rowland's character, Mea Harper, is a sharp and savvy defense attorney who finds herself struggling to keep her relationship with Zyair strictly professional as the case unfolds.

Trevante Rhodes plays Zyair Malloy, a man accused of murder who captures Mea's attention despite the conflict of interest. Nick Sagar stars as Ray, an Assistant District Attorney hoping to become mayor and assigned to Zyair's case. His brother, Sean Sagar, plays Kal, who is unemployed and hiding this fact from his family. RonReaco Lee portrays Jimmy, a private investigator hired by Mea to uncover the truth in Zyair's case. Shannon Thorton plays Charlise, Ray's wife, who maintains a friendly relationship with Mea despite their courtroom rivalry.

Kelly Rowland is best known for her work as a Grammy award-winning singer, while Trevante Rhodes gained fame for his role in the Oscar-winning film "Moonlight." Nick Sagar and Sean Sagar have appeared in various TV shows and films, while RonReaco Lee has been acting for over 20 years. Shannon Thorton is known for her roles in "Rise" and "Dynasty."

"Mea Culpa" is now available for streaming on Netflix and promises to be a thrilling and suspenseful romantic thriller that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats.
