George Washington Original American Badass

Presidents' Day was once Washington's Birthday. Washington was a true American badass, leading an adventurous life and standing at 6'3".

Today is "Presidents' Day," a midwinter holiday that has become rather dull, providing some people with a three-day weekend and retailers with an opportunity to sell discounted Chinese-made consumer goods. However, it wasn't always this way. Prior to 1970, it was known as Washington's Birthday, commemorating the first president of the United States. George Washington was a true American hero, known for his towering height of 6 feet 3 inches, athleticism, and charisma that drew admiration from both men and women.

Washington's adventurous spirit was evident from a young age. He worked as a licensed surveyor at the age of seventeen and led independent expeditions through the unexplored Shenandoah Valley. His leadership skills were apparent as he gave orders to older and more experienced surveying crew members. He was appointed as adjutant general of the Virginia militia at the age of 21 and embarked on a dangerous mission to deliver a message to the French in the midst of winter.

Throughout his life, Washington displayed physical prowess, such as when he outperformed much younger men in an athletic contest and survived a near-death experience in a snow-covered island. He also played a significant role in starting a world war and prevented a military coup against the government of the United States. His encounter with a deputy sheriff, in which he used either a sword or pistol to evade arrest, exemplified his daring nature.

George Washington's life was marked by numerous adventures and displays of bravery that earned him the title of the original American badass. Despite the holiday's transformation into a commercial event, it is important to remember and celebrate the remarkable life of the first president of the United States.
