Simorra, Lola Casademunt, Custo Barcelona: Catalan fashion firms make waves at MBFWMadrid

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid has brought national creative talent to Pavilion 14 of Ifema, showcasing autumn-winter 2024 collections.

The 79th edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid has brought together the best of national creative talent to showcase the autumn-winter 2024 collections at Pavilion 14 of Ifema. This event has delighted professionals, guests, and fashion enthusiasts who want to stay current with the latest trends. It is notable that this is the third edition in which tickets were sold to see the shows, indicating the growing interest in the event.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of Madrid, with farmers demonstrating with their tractors near the Ministry of Agriculture, Freckles and Food, the Ifema premises have become a hub for fashion brands to come together in a spirit of sisterhood, promoting and empowering fashion made in Spain.

The creative director of Pedro del Hierro's men's collection, Álex Miralles, emphasized the importance of believing in the talent within Spain, marking fifty years since the brand's foundation. Notably, Catalan brands have gained significant strength and notoriety on the Madrid catwalk, becoming the big "headliners" of the event.

Simorra, a Barcelona brand, made a lasting impression with their collection, "The Memory of Time," showcasing three-dimensional fabrics and paying tribute to the past with a collection inspired by fossils. The brand's success was evident, with attendees such as Eugenia Osborne, Marta Lozano, Teresa Andrés Gonzalvo, and Sara Baceiredo enjoying the parade from the front row.

Custo Barcelona presented "We Art Custo," its new proposal for autumn-winter 2024, featuring a vibrant color palette and graphic elements that reinforced the visual experience at the parade. The brand now heads to the Milan catwalk to present "We Art Custo Part Two," following its successful showcases in New York and Madrid.

The Fashion Week culminated with Lola Casademunt by Maite and her collection inspired by the sumptuous Victorian era. The brand's reinterpretation with contemporary airs, floral prints, large bows, airy dresses, and signature animal prints made for a stunning finale to the event.

Lola Casademunt is experiencing a high point, with an ambitious expansion project and a strong presence in Spain and Europe. The finalists for the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talent award will parade at MBFWMadrid, with Catalan firms among the candidates for the 23rd edition of the competition.

The winning brand will have the opportunity to showcase their collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Mexico, highlighting the international reach of the event. Past winners have already made a significant impact on the global fashion stage, demonstrating the potential for emerging creators to make a mark on the industry.
