Everything About Quiet Place Day One: Release Date, Plot, Cast, and More

First announced in 2020, the A Quiet Place prequel will feature a star-studded cast and focus on the chaos in New York.

The prequel to the popular film A Quiet Place takes place on the first day extraterrestrial creatures arrived on Earth and caused chaos in New York City by attacking any source of noise. Plans for the movie were announced in November 2020, and more details have been revealed, including the star-studded cast. The film features Lupita Nyong'o, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff, Djimon Hounsou, and Denis O'Hare. Nyong'o plays a character named Sam, who is on a day trip to New York City when the monsters arrive and is thrown together with a man named Eric, played by Quinn, in order to survive. The film is set in a different location than the first two movies, and it is unlikely that the characters played by Emily Blunt and John Krasinski will make appearances. However, Hounsou, who appeared in A Quiet Place Part II, will reprise his role as "Man on the Island." The plotline of the film has not been announced, but the trailer shows that it focuses on how different characters in New York City respond to the monsters' attack. Quinn describes the film as an escape movie rather than a survival story, and Nyong'o notes that it is not about a family sticking together, but rather about disparate individuals surviving and negotiating their fates. The new film will be directed by Michael Sarnoski and was developed by Krasinski and Sarnoski, with a screenplay written by Sarnoski. A Quiet Place: Day One will serve as a direct sequel to A Quiet Place Part II, and the first trailer was released in February 2024, showcasing the characters' struggle to survive the initial onslaught from the sound-hating creatures.
