Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp revealed he will leave the club at the end of the season, citing exhaustion after eight years.

Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, announced that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season. In a pre-recorded interview, Klopp expressed that he felt he was "running out of energy" after more than eight years in charge. He stated that he would wait at least a year before considering another job in management and ruled out joining a Premier League rival.

Klopp's decision comes as a surprise, especially considering that Liverpool's recently rebuilt team is leading the league and has advanced to the English League Cup final. The team is also still in contention for the FA Cup and Europa League after a trophyless season last year.

Despite the challenges, Klopp's status as a Liverpool icon is secure, having returned the club to the summit of European soccer and ending its 30-year wait for an English league title in 2020. He had already built up a reputation as a proven winner before joining Liverpool, leading Borussia Dortmund to back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012.

Klopp emphasized that he didn't want his announcement to distract from his targets and urged the team to focus on the current season. He also stated that he would play no part in identifying his successor and confirmed that his assistant managers and elite development coach would also leave at the end of the season.

The news of Klopp's departure has sparked speculation about who will take over as the new manager of Liverpool. Former Liverpool player and current Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso was quickly linked with the job, but he expressed that his focus is on Bayer Leverkusen.

Liverpool did not put a timeframe on recruiting a new manager, and it remains to be seen who will take over the reins after Klopp's departure.
