2024 McDonald's All-Americans: which Kentucky basketball recruits made the cut?

Kentucky men's basketball continues to recruit top talent, with two future Wildcats named McDonald's All-American. More players are expected to join.

Kentucky men's basketball has had a successful season with young talent, and it's evident that more promising young players are on their way to Lexington for the next season. Two members of UK's 2024 men's basketball recruiting class, Boogie Fland and Jayden Quaintance, have been named McDonald's All-Americans, a prestigious honor in high school basketball. John Calipari has signed four players in the 2024 recruiting class, including Fland, Quaintance, Travis Perry, and Somto Cyril. The Wildcats also have a commitment from Billy Richmond, who will join the team after April.

A total of 48 players, 24 boys, and 24 girls, have been announced as McDonald's All-Americans, with Fland and Quaintance continuing UK men's basketball's tradition of representation at the annual McDonald's All-American Game. The upcoming contest will take place on April 2 at the Toyota Center in Houston, and tickets are available at mcdaag.com.

Kentucky has a strong history with McDonald's All-Americans, having signed 46 players since John Calipari took over the program in 2009. The high points of Calipari's tenure as UK head coach have been shaped by players who were named McDonald's All-Americans, and the latest Wildcats to be named McDonald's All-Americans have plenty of potential as college prospects.

Fland, a 6-foot-2 combo guard from Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, New York, is projected to be Kentucky's primary ball handler next season and has shown three-level scoring ability. Quaintance, a 6-foot-9 center from Word Of God Christian Academy in Raleigh, North Carolina, is a multi-dimensional big with strong defensive abilities.

There is a strong possibility that Kentucky men's basketball will add to its 2024 recruiting class, with Karter Knox, a 6-foot-6 small forward, being one of the few elite, uncommitted prospects left in the class. On the other hand, Kentucky women's basketball has only one signee in the class of 2024, center Ramiya White, who was not nominated to become a McDonald's All-American. The last player Kentucky women's basketball signed from high school that was named a McDonald's All-American was guard Treasure Hunt in 2020. Overall, the UK women's program has signed 11 McDonald's All-Americans from high school.
