Shoaib Malik Achieves Milestone as 2nd Player to Reach 13,000 T20 Runs

Pakistan's former all-rounder, Shoaib Malik, has made history by becoming the second batsman in T20 cricket to reach 13,000 runs. This remarkable achievement came during his match for Fortune Barishal against Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024, where he scored 17 not out off 18 balls and also took a wicket.

Malik's all-round performance was instrumental in Fortune Barishal's successful chase of 135 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. His contribution with both bat and ball showcased his valuable skills and experience, highlighting his significance to the team's success.

The achievement of reaching 13,000 T20 runs was particularly significant for Malik, as he was just 7 runs away from the milestone before the start of the Bangladesh Premier League. This accomplishment comes after a break from competitive cricket, with his last appearance for Sialkot in Pakistan's National T20 Cup in December 2023.

Despite being the highest run-scorer in T20 cricket in Asia, Shoaib Malik has yet to score a century in the format. At 41 years old, he has retired from Tests and ODIs but remains dedicated to the shortest format, making himself available for selection and continuing to contribute to T20 cricket.
