PM Modi inaugurates Boeing India Engineering and Technology Centre in Bengaluru, boosting innovation and advancements in aviation. Launches Boeing Sukanya Program.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Boeing India Engineering and Technology Centre (BIETC) campus in Bengaluru on January 20, 2024. This marks the largest investment of its kind by Boeing outside of the United States. In his speech, PM Modi emphasized the facility's potential to drive innovation and advancements in aviation, while also strengthening Bengaluru's identity as a hub for technological development.

The campus, covering 43 acres and costing Rs 1,600 crore, is located at the Hightech Defence and Aerospace Park in Devanahalli on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The BIETC campus is expected to significantly impact India's private and government ecosystem, fostering partnerships with startups and contributing to the development of cutting-edge products and services for the defence industry and global aerospace.

Boeing aims to diversify its engineering workforce at BIETC, which will in turn contribute to the growth of the global aerospace sector. Additionally, the company plans to collaborate with the Indian Armed Forces to meet the demand for aircraft in the defence sector and support the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

In conjunction with the inauguration, PM Modi also launched the Boeing Sukanya Program, which seeks to create opportunities for girls and women in India to acquire valuable skills in STEM fields and pursue careers in the aviation sector. The program will establish STEM Labs at 150 locations for young girls and provide scholarships for women training to become pilots.

Boeing's engineers at BIETC are engaged in cutting-edge research and development, focusing on technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Additive Manufacturing, Cloud, Model-Based Engineering, and Industrial Internet of Things. This investment by Boeing represents a significant step towards strengthening India's position in the global aerospace industry and fostering technological innovation.
