Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger made a miraculous emergency landing in the Hudson River after a flock of birds disabled both engines; all 155 people aboard survived.

In more recent years, 2018 saw the tragic death of singer Dolores O'Riordan of the Irish rock band The Cranberries, while in 2019, musical comedy star Carol Channing passed away in California at the age of 97. The year 2023 brought a devastating plane crash in Nepal, killing all 72 people aboard.
