Rickey Smiley responds to Katt Williams Friday After Next comments

Comedian Katt Williams disses Hollywood stars on Shannon Sharpe's show, including beef with Rickey Smiley, who responds on his own show.

In the most recent installment of Shannon Sharpe's program, Club Shay Shay, comedian Katt Williams spent a significant amount of time criticizing some of the most prominent figures in Hollywood. While Sharpe observed, Williams went on tirades against individuals such as Cedric the Entertainer, Diddy, and Steve Harvey, accusing them of past offenses and joke theft. However, out of all the Black comedians on his list, Williams appeared to have the most significant issue with his Friday After Next co-star, Rickey Smiley, alleging that Smiley had deceived him about his role in the film and even insinuating that he had a clause inserted into his contract requiring Smiley to portray a woman in the sequel, First Sunday.

Now, Smiley has responded to the situation.

The comedian informed his listeners on The Rickey Smiley Morning Show that he did, indeed, inform Williams that he was originally intended to play the character Money Mike, which Williams ultimately portrayed in the film. However, Smiley believes that the right decision was made in the end.

"I had no reason to lie about that," Smiley stated. "They added that whole pimp twist to that character, which was actually a better decision and made it funnier. There was no way in the hell I could have executed that role like that, and I'm glad that they made that decision."

Smiley also took issue with Williams' remarks about his character Bernice Jenkins, a long-standing comedy sketch that saw the radio host dress up as a grandmother in films like First Sunday. Williams claimed that he was the reason Smiley portrayed that role because "That's where he's a believable actor. Him and Tyler Perry can't play a man to save their life. They play good women."

"That has nothing to do with my manhood being lessened for trying to play a role and trying to put food on the table for my family," Smiley clarified, adding that Williams' contract "had nothing to do" with his role in First Sunday. He concluded his show by wishing Williams well and encouraging listeners to see him perform live.
