5 Cleveland Browns players selected for AFC Pro Bowl roster; Joel Bitonio, Amari Cooper, and Myles Garrett voted to starting team

"Cleveland Browns players named to AFC Pro Bowl roster, including starters Bitonio, Garrett, and Cooper, for the 2024 games in Orlando."

The Cleveland Browns are having an outstanding season, with several players being recognized for their exceptional performances by being named to the AFC's Pro Bowl roster. The five players selected through a vote by fans and fellow players will participate in the Pro Bowl Games in Orlando, Florida, which will feature skills competitions and a flag football game. This new format replaces the old tackle football all-star game that had been criticized for lacking excitement.

Two of the Browns' top players, Bitonio and Garrett, have been named as starters, with Bitonio making his sixth appearance and Garrett making his fifth. Bitonio's six straight selections are the fourth-longest streak by any Browns player, while Garrett's impressive stats this season have put him in the conversation for Defensive Player of the Year. Cooper, who earns his fifth career Pro Bowl nod, has had an outstanding season as a wide receiver, setting career-highs in yards and yards per reception. Ward, honored for the third time, has been a key player in the Browns' secondary, and Njoku will be making his first Pro Bowl appearance after setting personal bests in receptions, yards, and touchdowns.

In addition to the five Pro Bowl participants, six Cleveland players were named Pro Bowl alternates, giving them the opportunity to be promoted to the roster due to injuries or players scheduled to play in the Super Bowl.

This is only the 10th time since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger that the Browns will have at least five Pro Bowl participants, with the club record being eight players.

The 2024 Pro Bowl Games will feature various events allowing players to showcase their skills on the field. However, there has been some criticism of the new format, particularly from Garrett, who was injured during an obstacle course race at last year's Pro Bowl. It remains to be seen if his stance on participating in the Pro Bowl has changed.
