Chelsea Fulham win penalties reach EFL Cup semi-finals

Chelsea beats Newcastle and Fulham advances to EFL Cup semi-finals for the first time after winning their own shootout.

Chelsea and Fulham both secured spots in the semi-finals of the EFL Cup with dramatic shootout victories over Newcastle United and Everton, respectively. In a thrilling match, Chelsea came from behind to equalize in stoppage time before winning 4-2 on penalties, while Fulham also drew 1-1 before emerging victorious in a 7-6 shootout.

The match between Chelsea and Newcastle saw Callum Wilson take advantage of a defensive error to give Newcastle an early lead, but Kieran Trippier made a costly mistake in stoppage time, allowing Mykhailo Mudryk to score a dramatic equalizer. The match went to penalties, where Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic saved Matt Ritchie's spot-kick to secure a 4-2 victory for Chelsea.

Fulham, on the other hand, took the lead against Everton through a Michael Keane own goal, but conceded a late equalizer before winning 7-6 in a thrilling shootout. The semi-final draw will take place after Liverpool's match against West Ham United, with one of the top-flight semi-finalists set to face Championship side Middlesbrough in the last four.
