Anthony Davis Injury: Lakers center's absence vs Spurs due to new ailment mentioned by Darvin Ham

The Los Angeles Lakers lose to the San Antonio Spurs, missing Anthony Davis. Coach debunks injury rumors. Spurs end 18-game losing streak.

The Los Angeles Lakers faced a tough loss against the San Antonio Spurs, with Anthony Davis sidelined due to injury. This setback brought the Lakers' win-loss record to 15-10. However, following the game, coach Darvin Ham addressed rumors about Davis's injury during a post-game press conference.

According to the Lakers' injury reports, Davis is among several players, including Gabe Vincent, D'Angelo Russell, and Jalen Hood-Schifino, who are dealing with injuries. It was initially reported that Davis had a hip injury, but Ham clarified that the real issue was an ankle injury sustained during a previous matchup with the Spurs. While the hip injury remains a concern, the ankle injury is currently the primary focus for Davis.

Despite Davis's absence, the Lakers managed to secure a victory in their game against the Spurs, with Davis delivering an impressive performance, scoring 37 points and contributing 10 rebounds, four steals, and two 3-point baskets. Taurean Prince and Austin Reaves also stepped up to support the team offensively, combining for 32 points.

The San Antonio Spurs, on the other hand, ended an 18-game losing streak with a 129-115 win over the Lakers. Victor Wembanyama played a key role in the Spurs' victory, recording 13 points, 15 rebounds, two steals, and two blocks, while Devin Vassell led the team in scoring with 36 points, six rebounds, five 3-pointers, and three assists. Despite Jaxon Hayes being promoted to the starting lineup, he was unable to fully fill the void left by Davis, contributing eight points, seven rebounds, and one block. LeBron James led the Lakers with 23 points, 14 assists, and seven rebounds.

Looking ahead, the Lakers will host the New York Knicks on December 18 at the Crypto.com Arena, with Davis's availability uncertain. Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs will face the New Orleans Pelicans on December 17, aiming to maintain their momentum following their recent win.
