Kate Micucci reveals surprise lung cancer surgery after never smoking a cigarette

Comedian Kate Micucci is recovering from lung cancer surgery, but she's staying positive and plans to get back to painting soon.

Comedian, voice actor, and musician Kate Micucci recently shared the news that she underwent lung cancer surgery earlier this month. In a video posted to TikTok, Micucci revealed that her doctors caught the cancer early and successfully removed the impacted cells. Despite the positive outcome, Micucci admitted that her diagnosis came as a surprise, especially since she has never smoked a cigarette in her life.

It's important to note that not everyone diagnosed with lung cancer has a history of smoking. According to the American Cancer Society, nonsmokers can develop lung cancer due to various factors, including exposure to radon, secondhand smoke, air pollution, asbestos, diesel exhaust, and other chemicals.

Micucci also shared a glimpse of her time in the hospital, posting a video of herself walking around in a medical gown and a photo of her posing on her hospital bed with a small box of cereal, a banana, and her food tray. The 43-year-old comedian, known for her roles in "The Big Bang Theory," "Ducktales," and "Steven Universe," has been a familiar face in the entertainment industry since the early 2000s. She is also half of the musical duo Garfunkel and Oates, along with comedian Riki Lindhome.

In addition to her acting career, Micucci has lent her voice to numerous animated projects, including "Nature Cat," "Ducktales," and "Doc McStuffins: The Doc and Bella Are In!" She recently released a 14-track album titled "My Hat," featuring quirky folk songs.

Despite her recent health challenges, Micucci reassured her fans that she is on the road to recovery and looking forward to getting back to her creative pursuits. She expressed gratitude for the support she has received and shared her optimism about returning to her artistic endeavors in the near future.
