Michigan State basketball slow start, 70-57 loss to Wisconsin

Michigan State basketball clawed back from a 12-point deficit but lost to Wisconsin. Tyson Walker scored 22 points.

Michigan State basketball made a valiant effort to overcome a 12-point deficit in the first half, but ultimately fell short to Wisconsin in a 70-57 loss. Despite their best efforts, the Spartans were unable to regain the lead, with Wisconsin's AJ Storr playing a key role in securing the Badgers' victory. This marked the first time Wisconsin had won three straight at Breslin and the first time doing it at MSU since 1961-63 at Jenison Fieldhouse.

Moving forward, Michigan State basketball will need to regroup and prepare for their upcoming games, including a December conference game against Baylor. With the team's starting lineup undergoing significant changes and the absence of key players due to illness, Coach Tom Izzo will need to make strategic adjustments to navigate the challenges ahead.

Despite the loss, there were moments of promise for the Spartans, particularly in the second half. Tyson Walker and A.J. Hoggard showed their offensive prowess, with Walker scoring 18 of his 22 points in the second half, and Hoggard contributing 10 of his 14 points and six of his seven assists after halftime. However, the Badgers' strong performance, including a 19-9 finishing run over the last 8:42, ultimately secured their victory.

Looking ahead, the Spartans will have to regroup and focus on their upcoming games, as they strive to make a strong comeback in the Big Ten race. Despite the challenges they face, the team's determination and resilience will be key in overcoming their recent setback and achieving success in the future.
