In the Instagram Stories footage, Abbey's children can be seen looking around the room in awe and amusement as various Elf On The Shelf helpers are spotted amid the scene. Abbey expressed her shock, exclaiming, "What has happened? Oh my gosh!"

One of her children directed her attention to one of the Elf On The Shelf dolls, saying, "Look up there, mum!" Abbey laughed and agreed that the elves were "so naughty." Even Peter was taken aback by the madness, gasping, "What have they done?"

The Elf On The Shelf is a children's novel that tells a charming Christmas story, exploring the origins of the belief that Santa knows if children are naughty or nice. An army of cheeky elves, working under the orders of Santa Claus, spy on children from the end of November to Christmas Eve and report back on their behaviors and actions.
