Embiid triple double NBA 76ers Lakers

Joel Embiid's triple-double and the 76ers' 138-94 rout of the Lakers is the most lopsided win in their history.

Joel Embiid had an incredible game on Monday, achieving his sixth NBA career triple double with 30 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists, leading the Philadelphia 76ers to a dominant 138-94 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.

The 29-year-old Cameroonian, standing at 7 feet tall, who was last season's NBA Most Valuable Player, achieved his first triple double of the campaign on the same night that the 76ers made 22 3-pointers, just one shy of the club record in a single game.

Embiid had an impressive shooting performance, making 9-of-15 from the floor, including 2-of-3 from 3-point range, and sinking 10 of his 12 free throws.

In a post-game interview, Embiid expressed his focus on playing winning basketball and making the game easier for himself and his teammates by creating opportunities for easy shots.

Teammate Tyrese Maxey also had a standout performance, scoring a game-high 31 points and adding eight assists for the Sixers. The team collectively shot 47-of-93 from the floor and 22-of-46 from 3-point range.

Embiid highlighted the team's unity and ball-sharing mentality, emphasizing the importance of starting on defense and transitioning into easy baskets.

The game marked the most lopsided blowout in the history of the rivalry between the 76ers and the Lakers, surpassing a 31-point win by the Syracuse Nationals over the then-Minneapolis Lakers in November 1951.

LeBron James led the Lakers with 18 points, while Anthony Davis added 17 points and 11 rebounds. However, the Lakers were unable to mount a comeback against the dominant performance by the 76ers.

With this victory, the 76ers improved to 12-5, just one game behind the Eastern Conference leader Boston, while the Lakers fell to 10-8, currently sitting at eighth in the Western Conference.

In another game, the Washington Wizards secured a 126-107 victory over the Detroit Pistons, with Kyle Kuzma leading the way with 32 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists. The Wizards improved to 3-14, while the Pistons, led by Cade Cunningham's 26 points, dropped to a league-worst 2-15.

The Pistons' losing streak extended to 14 games, while the Wizards snapped a nine-game win drought.

In a matchup between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Indiana Pacers, the Trail Blazers emerged victorious with Jerami Grant scoring 34 points, Malcolm Brogdon adding 24 points, and Deandre Ayton contributing 22 points and 13 rebounds. The Pacers' Tyrese Haliburton led the team with 33 points and nine assists.

The evening's later games featured the defending champion Denver Nuggets playing against the Los Angeles Clippers and the New Orleans Pelicans facing off against the Utah Jazz.

Overall, it was a night of impressive performances and thrilling basketball action, showcasing the talent and skill of some of the NBA's top players.
