UCF football Live updates: Closes regular season vs. Houston, seeks bowl eligibility

UCF aims to secure bowl eligibility in Big 12 football finale against Houston. Semifinalist RJ Harvey leads Knights. Kickoff at noon.

The University of Central Florida (UCF) is gearing up for its Big 12 football finale against Houston, with the goal of securing a win to secure bowl eligibility for an eighth consecutive year. The Knights, with a current record of 5-6, will host Houston at FBC Mortgage Stadium in Orlando, Florida, with kickoff scheduled for noon.

This matchup marks the 11th meeting between the two teams, with UCF holding a 7-3 advantage in their previous encounters. The Knights are coming off a two-game winning streak, which was snapped by a close 24-23 loss at Texas Tech. Houston, on the other hand, has suffered four losses in its last five outings, including a recent 43-30 defeat to Oklahoma State at home.

RJ Harvey, a redshirt senior at UCF, has been named a semifinalist for the Doak Walker Award, given to the nation's top running back. He has rushed for multiple touchdowns in three consecutive games and ranks 10th in the Football Bowl Subdivision with 1,160 yards and tied for seventh with 14 TDs.

Before the kickoff on Saturday, UCF will recognize its senior class, including starting quarterback John Rhys Plumlee, center Lokahi Pauole, tight end Alec Holler, linebacker Jason Johnson, and left tackle Tylan Grable.

The game will be televised on FS1, with Eric Collins as the play-by-play announcer and Devin Gardner serving as the analyst. Fans can catch the action at FBC Mortgage Stadium in Orlando, Florida, as UCF looks to secure a crucial win in their quest for bowl eligibility.
