Surprise Team Wanted to Trade for Raiders WR Davante Adams Revealed

Las Vegas Raiders fired their general manager and head coach complicating potential trade deals for star wide receiver Davante Adams.

The Las Vegas Raiders were in a difficult position prior to the October 31st trade deadline, with a 3-5 record and the potential to trade assets. However, the firing of general manager Dave Ziegler and head coach Josh McDaniels on the day of the trade deadline complicated any potential deals.

Despite the Raiders not indicating any desire to trade star wide receiver Davante Adams, teams still attempted to pursue a trade. According to ESPN's David Newton, the Carolina Panthers were one of the teams that reached out to the Raiders about a possible trade for Adams.

The Panthers, who currently have the worst record in the NFL at 1-8, are far from contention. If the Raiders were to trade Adams, it would likely be at his request to go to a contending team. Given the Panthers' current status, it's unlikely that Adams would have been enthusiastic about such a trade, even if the Raiders were willing to make it happen.

The first half of the season was challenging for Davante Adams, and he made his frustration known on multiple occasions. However, following the Week 10 win over the New York Jets, Adams appeared to be in higher spirits, even dancing in the team's locker room after the game. With Antonio Pierce now serving as the Raiders' interim head coach, Adams seems to be in a better place.

While the Panthers expressed interest in Adams, they were not the only team to do so. The Jets, the Raiders' Week 10 opponent, also looked into a trade for Adams, as reported by ESPN's Rich Cimini. The Jets could be a more appealing option for Adams, as it would reunite him with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, with whom he had success during their time together with the Green Bay Packers.

Ultimately, the decision to trade Adams will depend on the Raiders' performance for the remainder of the season. If they remain competitive, it is more likely that they will keep him and build around him in the offseason. However, if the team's trajectory changes, an Adams trade could be on the table in the offseason.
