Browns QB Deshaun Watson MRI left ankle injured last-second win Ravens

Browns QB Deshaun Watson gets MRI on ankle after win at Baltimore. Coach Stefanski awaits results on CB Denzel Ward.

Deshaun Watson, the quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, will undergo an MRI on his left ankle after injuring it during the team's game against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, November 12, 2023. Despite rolling his ankle twice in the first half, Watson continued to play and completed 14 of 14 passes for 134 yards in the second half, leading the Browns to a 33-31 victory. Following the game, Watson left the stadium wearing a walking boot but expressed confidence that he would be ready to play in the upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

After the second ankle injury, Watson left the field early to receive treatment, and backup quarterback P.J. Walker stepped in for the final play before halftime. Coach Kevin Stefanski did not provide specific details about Watson's injury but confirmed that the quarterback would undergo additional imaging tests on his ankle.

This injury comes after Watson's recent struggles with a strained rotator cuff in his right shoulder, which limited his playing time in October. Additionally, Pro Bowl cornerback Denzel Ward suffered a neck injury during the game against the Ravens and did not return to play. Although he was cleared of a concussion, Ward's status moving forward remains uncertain.

Stefanski also addressed a controversial play involving Ronnie Stanley, an offensive tackle for the Ravens, and indicated that the Browns would be sending the footage to the NFL for review. The team is awaiting the results of the MRI on both Watson and Ward to determine the extent of their injuries.

In the meantime, the Browns are preparing to face the Pittsburgh Steelers in their next game and remain hopeful that both Watson and Ward will be available to play. For more updates on NFL news, visit the AP NFL website.
