Zach Wilson Salary 2023: Exploring Jets QB's Annual Earnings and Career Pay

"New York Jets backup QB Zach Wilson earns nearly $9 million a year on his rookie contract, filling in for injured Aaron Rodgers."

New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson is making a significant amount of money on his rookie contract, which he signed in 2021. The former Brigham Young University player is currently the backup quarterback for the Jets, as he is behind the four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers.

Wilson was selected second overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, right after Trevor Lawrence, who was considered a once-in-a-generation prospect. He was chosen ahead of other top quarterback prospects, including Mac Jones and Trey Lance.

After the draft, Wilson signed a four-year, $35,150,681 contract, with all of it guaranteed. This contract also included a hefty $22.9 million signing bonus, which he received in his first year as a rookie.

According to Spotrac, Wilson is set to earn $3,855,516 in 2023, bringing his career earnings to nearly $30 million in just three seasons.

Wilson began the season as the backup, but when Rodgers got injured in his first game as a Jet, Wilson was thrust into the starting role. Despite minimal expectations, he has helped lead the Jets to a 4-4 record at the mid-point of the season.

Reports estimate Wilson's net worth to be around $12 million, thanks to his salary, endorsement deals, and investments.

While Wilson may be a backup, he is still one of the more high-profile quarterbacks in the league. He is part of the historic 2021 NFL Draft class and is making a name for himself in the NFL. Despite being behind Rodgers on the depth chart, Wilson is proving himself to be a valuable asset to the Jets.
