Real Madrid remain second in LaLiga after scoreless draw with Rayo Vallecano

Real Madrid fails to reclaim top spot in LaLiga after a 0-0 draw with Rayo Vallecano, leaving them two points behind Girona.

Real Madrid were unable to regain their position at the top of LaLiga after a goalless draw with Rayo Vallecano at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. This result leaves Real Madrid in second place, two points behind Girona, and two points ahead of Barcelona in third.

In another LaLiga match, Athletic Bilbao secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Villarreal at El Madrigal. Inigo Ruiz de Galarreta, Nico Williams, and Inaki Williams scored three goals within the first half an hour, giving Athletic Bilbao a comfortable lead. However, Gerard Moreno and Alexander Sorloth scored late goals for Villarreal, making it a tense finish. Despite the late fightback, Athletic Bilbao managed to hold on for the win.

Valencia also claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Granada thanks to a penalty from Pepelu. Alaves mirrored this scoreline with a 1-0 win over Almeria, who currently sit at the bottom of the table.

In Serie A, Juventus closed the gap on league leaders Inter Milan with a 1-0 win over Fiorentina. Fabio Miretti's early goal proved to be the difference in the match.

Roma produced a dramatic comeback against Lecce at the Stadio Olimpico, scoring two stoppage-time goals to secure a 2-1 victory. Sardar Azmoun equalized in the first minute of added time, cancelling out Pontus Almqvist's goal for Lecce. Romelu Lukaku then netted the winner just three minutes later, redeeming himself after having an early penalty saved.

Monza registered a 3-1 win over Hellas Verona, with Lorenzo Colombo scoring twice. This result sees Hellas Verona fall into the relegation zone, while Cagliari moved out of it with a 2-1 home victory over Genoa.

In Ligue 1, Nice reclaimed the top spot with a 2-0 home win against Rennes, despite both teams being reduced to 10 men. Jeremie Boga opened the scoring for Nice, and a Steve Mandanda own goal sealed the victory. Both Youssouf Ndayishimiye and Warmed Omari were sent off for their respective teams.

Monaco sits in third place, just one point behind second-placed Paris St Germain, after a 2-0 win over Brest. Denis Zakaria and Aleksandr Golovin found the back of the net, while Lilian Brassier was sent off for Brest in stoppage time.

Reims climbed to fourth place in Ligue 1 with a 1-0 victory over Nantes, courtesy of a goal from Junya Ito. Meanwhile, Lyon salvaged a 1-1 draw at home against Metz thanks to Skelly Alvero's late goal. Le Havre secured a 2-1 win over Toulouse, and Strasbourg and Clermont played out a goalless draw.

In the Bundesliga, Stuttgart suffered their second consecutive defeat, losing 2-0 to Heidenheim. Jan Schoppner and Tim Kleindienst were the scorers for Heidenheim. Wolfsburg, on the other hand, were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Werder Bremen.
