CAB President Snehasish Ganguly Gifts Virat Kohli a Gold-plated Bat on 35th Birthday

Virat Kohli receives a gold-plated bat from the CAB president on his 35th birthday after scoring his 49th ODI century.

On his 35th birthday, Virat Kohli, the renowned Indian batsman, received a special gift from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president, Snehasish Ganguly. Ganguly presented Kohli with a gold-plated bat, commemorating the occasion and honoring his remarkable achievement of scoring his 49th ODI century, equaling the record set by the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. The presentation took place at the iconic Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata, where fans gathered in large numbers to show their support and celebrate Kohli's birthday.

The CAB expressed their admiration for Kohli in a Facebook post, describing the bat as a symbol of dedication and a testament to the fact that age is merely a number. The bat was inscribed with the words "Happy Birthday Virat," and Kohli was also treated to a grand birthday cake, featuring a statue of himself on top of a dark chocolate cake with blue icing.

During the match against South Africa, Kohli showcased his exceptional skills by scoring an unbeaten 101 runs off 121 balls. This century not only helped India secure a commanding total of 326 for five but also enabled Kohli to equal Tendulkar's record. He formed a crucial 134-run partnership with Shreyas Iyer, who contributed 77 runs to the team's total.

The Indian team's dominance continued in the field as Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, and Kuldeep Yadav delivered exceptional bowling performances, leading to the dismissal of the South African team for a mere 83 runs in 27.1 overs. Jadeja claimed five wickets for 33 runs, while Shami and Yadav took two wickets each.

In recognition of his outstanding performance, Kohli was named the Player of the Match. Reflecting on his achievement, he expressed his joy in playing the sport he loves and emphasized the importance of enjoying the game above all else. Kohli acknowledged the significance of playing against a formidable opponent like South Africa and credited the motivation it provided for his exceptional performance.

As Kohli continues to make his mark in the cricketing world, his record-equalling century and the special birthday celebrations organized by the CAB serve as a testament to his unparalleled talent and dedication to the sport.
