Rashida Tlaib Accuses Biden Of Supporting Genocide

Representative Rashida Tlaib demands President Biden's support for a cease-fire to stop "the genocide of the Palestinian people." #CeasefireNow

Representative Rashida Tlaib, a Democrat from Michigan, recently took to social media to express her demand for President Joe Biden's support in implementing a cease-fire to put an end to what she referred to as "the genocide of the Palestinian people." In a video posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), Tlaib criticized Biden's stance of supporting Israel and opposing a cease-fire, asserting that the majority of the American people do not align with his position. She emphasized that the phrase "from the river to the sea" symbolizes a call for freedom, human rights, and peaceful coexistence, rather than promoting death, destruction, or hate. Tlaib's work and advocacy consistently prioritize justice and dignity for all individuals, regardless of their faith or ethnicity.

The tweet shared by Tlaib featured video clips from Gaza and protests taking place in the United States, along with quotes from Biden, National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Protesters from Ohio could be heard chanting slogans such as "No peace on stolen land!" Meanwhile, Illinois demonstrators expressed their support for a free Palestine, and Michigan echoed the sentiment of "from the river to the sea."

Towards the end of the video, Tlaib directly addressed the camera, stating, "We will remember in 2024," followed by the words, "Joe Biden supported the genocide of the Palestinian people," flashing on the screen. She concluded by demanding that Biden promptly endorse a cease-fire, cautioning that his failure to do so would impact his support in the upcoming 2024 election.

Unsurprisingly, Tlaib faced criticism from Republican leaders, with some labeling her as "anti-Semitic." In fact, just last week, she faced a vote to censure her, initiated by Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia. Greene accused Tlaib of participating in an attempted insurgency in a House office building by supporting Jewish demonstrators who were advocating for a cease-fire. However, the censure motion was ultimately defeated with a vote of 222-186.
