Boos!Letter: Scary movies for Halloween night

Creep It Real OC will host the Creep It Real Festive holiday-horror edition on Nov. 17-18 in Santa Ana.

Halloween is finally here, and it's time for the Boos!Letter to bid farewell until 2024. But let's not end this streak of 10 newsletters on a sour note! I hope you had a fantastic time partying and getting scared at the places we highlighted here, and now you're ready for one last Halloween hurrah tonight.

I want to express my gratitude to those of you who played along and sent me your suggestions for home haunts, horror movies, and other themed events. Your participation made this season even more exciting.

Although the official Halloween season is over, Southern California has turned Halloween into a year-round business. On November 17-18, Creep It Real OC will host its Creep It Real Festive holiday-horror edition at the Heritage Museum of Orange County in Santa Ana. This event will feature numerous Halloween and holiday vendors, special celebrity guests, ghost tours of the historic Kellogg House, seasonal treats and beverages, and much more.

Don't forget to dress up in your favorite costume! Tickets are available for purchase, with options including a weekend pass for $25, general daily admission for $15, and VIC (Very Important Creep) tickets for $37, which include entry, the ghost tour, and an exclusive Creep It Real Festive pin. You can buy your passes now at creepitrealoc.com.

I'm Kelli Skye Fadroski, your Boos!Letter Ghost Host for the season. I hope you all have a safe and fun Halloween. I'll be back with a different persona, more like Buddy the Elf than Elvira, to curate the Holiday Nights edition of our Holiday Events newsletter. Starting on Friday, November 24, you'll receive all the seasonal happenings and exclusive content straight to your inbox. Don't forget to sign up for the free Holiday Events newsletter!

Now, let's dive into some more spooky fun!

Looking for some horror movies to stream, rent, or buy on Halloween night? While there are countless "best of" classic Halloween movie lists out there, reporter Jim Harrington has rounded up the best of the newest horror films available on streaming platforms this year. Whether you're into super scary films like "Talk to Me" and "Evil Dead Rise" or prefer more spoof-horror flicks like "Cocaine Bear" and "The Blackening," you'll find something to watch while you're handing out candy, hanging out with friends, or bundling up on the couch alone in the dark tonight.

After Halloween, it's time for Day of the Dead, which takes place on November 1 and 2. This celebration bridges the gap between the living and the dead, honoring those who have passed by keeping their memory alive. Southern California has several free and ticketed Day of the Dead events scheduled this year, featuring delicious food, vibrant music, and lively dancing. Reporter Richard Guzman has compiled a list of 12 ways to celebrate this special occasion.

Throughout the season, we've explored various horror-themed escape rooms, Halloween concerts, cocktails, haunted car washes, and more. We've delved into the scares provided by Delusion and questioned whether Phillips Mansion in Pomona is truly haunted. We've also highlighted the best places to celebrate Halloween in Southern California, as well as recommended pumpkin patches and kid-friendly Halloween events. And of course, we've shared survival tips for Universal's Halloween Horror Nights and celebrated Knott's Scary Farm's 50th anniversary.

All in all, it's been an incredible Halloween season filled with frights, fun, and festivities. As we bid farewell to this spooky time, let's cherish the memories and look forward to the holiday season ahead. Stay tuned for the Holiday Events newsletter, where we'll bring you the best of the season straight to your inbox.

Happy Halloween, everyone!
