Miami Dolphins LG Isaiah Wynn to Miss Multiple Weeks with Quad Injury

Miami Dolphins left guard Isaiah Wynn suffers quad injury, expected to miss weeks; Lester Cotton struggles as replacement.

Miami Dolphins left guard Isaiah Wynn sustained a quad injury during the team's 31-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football. Unfortunately, Wynn did not return to the game, adding to the Dolphins' injury woes. With left tackle Terron Armstead and center Connor Williams already out, Miami will now be without their starting left guard for an extended period of time.

Head coach Mike McDaniel provided an update on Wynn's injury, stating that it appears to be a significant one. "We are still gathering more information, but based on what we know so far, it looks like Isaiah will be sidelined for weeks. This is not just a minor bump or bruise," McDaniel explained. The team will continue to seek more specific details regarding the injury.

Despite the injury, Wynn had been performing well for the Dolphins, starting in all seven games without allowing a single sack. However, he did concede four pressures and drew three penalties, according to PFF.

In Wynn's absence, Lester Cotton struggled to fill the void at left guard. He faced a formidable Philadelphia front and allowed four pressures. Additionally, Cotton was penalized twice during his 44 snaps on the field. The Dolphins do have third-year guard Robert Jones on the roster, but McDaniel expressed confidence in Cotton's ability to adjust and improve.

McDaniel spoke highly of Cotton, emphasizing his accountability and progress since joining the team last year. He acknowledged the challenging situation Cotton faced going up against a strong defensive line and believes that with more practice as the starter, Cotton can continue to develop and perform better. "I have full faith in Lester and haven't lost any confidence in him. He knows there are areas where he can improve and I know he'll strive to do better," McDaniel stated.

The Dolphins will now have to navigate through a difficult period without their starting left guard. Wynn's absence will undoubtedly be felt, but the team remains optimistic about Cotton's potential and ability to step up. As they gather more information about Wynn's injury, the Dolphins will continue to adjust their game plan and work towards finding the best solution for their offensive line.
