Studs and Duds from Giants' Week 4 Loss vs. Seahawks

The New York Giants suffered a humiliating loss to the Seattle Seahawks, showing poor performance in all aspects of the game.

The New York Giants had a lot riding on their Monday night game against the Seattle Seahawks. With a tough schedule ahead, a loss would almost certainly mean missing the playoffs. Unfortunately, the Giants delivered their worst performance in over a decade, failing in all three phases of the game and looking like anything but an NFL team. It was a game that even made head coach Joe Judge cringe.

One of the few bright spots for the Giants was Kayvon Thibodeaux. Desperately needing a solid game, Thibodeaux delivered with two tackles, two QB hits, 2.0 sacks, and a pass defensed that nearly resulted in a pick-6. He stood out among a team that was otherwise lackluster.

On the other hand, special teams coach Thomas McGaughey had a night to forget. The special teams unit was a disaster, putting the team in precarious positions with muffed punts, mishandled kickoffs, and unnecessary penalties. McGaughey's coaching issues have been a persistent problem throughout the season and were on full display in Week 4.

Wan'Dale Robinson was one of the few players who played with energy and desperation against the Seahawks. He gave every play his all and led the team with five receptions for 40 yards. He also made impressive downfield blocks, showing his commitment to the game.

Brian Daboll, who was named AP Coach of the Year last season, has seen a complete reversal of fortune. His team is poorly coached, struggling in all aspects of the game. The team lacks discipline, grit, and seems willing to accept defeat without putting up a fight.

Matt Breida deserves recognition as well. Despite a low yards per carry average, he played hard and contributed both on the ground and through the air. The fault lies with the offensive line, not his effort.

Defensive coordinator Wink Martindale promised to address the missed tackles that plagued the team in Week 3 but fell short once again. The Giants' defense was a mess, allowing big plays and scores due to missed tackles. The only positive was limiting Seattle's high-powered offense to just 17 points.

Unfortunately, Daniel Jones continued his struggles in prime-time games. With a record of 1-12 under the lights, Jones failed to redeem himself in Monday's loss. He missed open receivers, held onto the ball too long resulting in a fumble, and threw a costly pick-6 due to miscommunication. It was a disappointing performance from the young quarterback.

In addition to Thibodeaux, there were a few other standout players for the Giants. Linebacker Azeez Ojulari and kicker Graham Gano deserve recognition for their performances. On the other hand, tight end Darren Waller and offensive linemen Evan Neal, Shane Lemieux, Joshua Ezeudu, Ben Bredeson, and Markus McKethan had disappointing outings.

Overall, the Giants' performance against the Seahawks was a major letdown. They failed to rise to the occasion and now face an uphill battle to make the playoffs. Changes will need to be made if they want to turn their season around.
