Henry's Dominance Leads Titans to Victory, 27-3 Rout Against Bengals

Ryan Tannehill throws for 240 yards and a touchdown as the Tennessee Titans rout the Cincinnati Bengals 27-3.

The Tennessee Titans bounced back from their worst offensive performance in 49 years by dominating the Cincinnati Bengals with a 27-3 victory. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill led the way with 240 passing yards and a touchdown, while Derrick Henry rushed for 122 yards and found rookie tight end Josh Whyle for another touchdown. The Titans' defense also played a crucial role, sacking Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow three times and forcing a turnover. Despite missing key offensive starters, the Titans proved to be too much for the Bengals to handle.

Last week, the Titans struggled immensely on offense, only managing to gain 94 yards in a loss to the Cleveland Browns. However, they quickly turned things around in this game, scoring 27 unanswered points and taking a commanding 24-3 lead at halftime. This victory marked head coach Mike Vrabel's first win against the Bengals in four attempts.

Derrick Henry, who was held to just 20 rushing yards in the previous game, had a standout performance, running for a touchdown and surpassing Earl Campbell to become second on the franchise's career rushing list. He now trails only Eddie George in that category. Henry also tied Edgerrin James for the 21st spot in NFL history for rushing touchdowns.

The Bengals, on the other hand, struggled to find their rhythm on offense. Despite winning the coin toss and starting with the ball, they settled for a field goal after failing to convert on a first-and-goal opportunity. Their offensive struggles continued throughout the game, and they remain one of only two teams in the NFL to not score a first-half touchdown this season.

In the third quarter, a sequence highlighted Cincinnati's offensive woes. Linebacker Trevis Gipson stripped the ball from Joe Burrow, and safety Kevin Byard recovered it. However, officials later reversed the call, stating that the Titans had actually recovered the ball. These types of mistakes and inconsistencies plagued the Bengals throughout the game.

The Titans' victory was also marred by injuries. Offensive starters left guard Peter Skoronski and wide receiver Treylon Burks were both unable to play due to injury. Additionally, rookie tight end Josh Whyle hurt his ankle and did not return to the game.

Looking ahead, the Bengals will continue their two-game road swing with a visit to Arizona, while the Titans will face off against the Indianapolis Colts in their first AFC South matchup of the season.
