Sergio Ramos Reacts to Assisting FC Barcelona in Defeating Sevilla

Sevilla's new signing Sergio Ramos admits defeat against FC Barcelona was hurtful, but remains optimistic for future games.

Sevilla's recent signing, Sergio Ramos, expressed his disappointment after his team suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of FC Barcelona on Friday night, September 29th. Ramos, a former Real Madrid defender, had been without a club for nearly three months after leaving Paris Saint Germain. He joined Sevilla, his boyhood club, on a free transfer during last summer's transfer window.

In his 34th La Liga match against FC Barcelona, the 37-year-old Ramos had a difficult game. Despite his experience, he ended up making a crucial mistake that led to an embarrassing own goal. In the 76th minute, Ramos unintentionally intercepted a header from Barca's young star, Lamine Yamal, and inadvertently scored in his own net, resulting in a 1-0 victory for Barca.

This own goal proved to be the only goal of the match, leaving Sevilla struggling this season. Without Ramos' unfortunate mistake, FC Barcelona would have left Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys with regrets, as Joao Felix's shot had hit the underside of the crossbar in the first half, almost resulting in a goal.

Sergio Ramos took to Instagram the following day to express his feelings about the match. He described it as a painful experience due to the result and the circumstances surrounding it. However, he also highlighted the team's performance and attitude, which he believed would strengthen them. Ramos mentioned that they continue to grow and are already focusing on the upcoming Champions League matches.

For FC Barcelona, the 1-0 victory over Sevilla was a significant consolation, especially after their winger Raphinha suffered a hamstring injury during the game. This win propelled FC Barcelona to the top of the league table, with 20 points from 7 games. They are one point ahead of second-placed Girona and two points above third-placed Real Madrid, who still have a game in hand.

On the other hand, Sevilla's defeat has dropped them to the 13th spot in the league table. They now have 7 points from 7 games, with 2 wins, 1 draw, and 4 defeats. It is a challenging start to the season for Sevilla, and they will need to regroup and improve their performance in the upcoming matches.
