Report: Jets sign QB Trevor Siemian

The New York Jets are signing quarterback Trevor Siemian to a contract, beginning his second stint with the team.

The New York Jets have made a significant signing by bringing quarterback Trevor Siemian back to the team, according to ESPN. This move marks Siemian's second stint with the Jets, as he previously played for the team in 2019. The signing is pending a physical examination.

Siemian, who is 31 years old, will join Tim Boyle as a backup quarterback behind Zach Wilson. Wilson was thrust into the starting role after Aaron Rodgers, who was acquired by the Jets in the offseason, suffered an injury during the team's season-opening win over the Buffalo Bills on September 11th.

Although Wilson has shown promise, completing just 52.4 percent of his passes for 467 yards, with two touchdowns and four interceptions, the Jets are taking precautions by adding Siemian to their roster.

Siemian, who had previously signed a one-year contract with the Cincinnati Bengals in May but did not make the final roster, appeared in two games for the Chicago Bears in 2022. He went 0-1 as the starter in place of Justin Fields, throwing for 184 yards, with one touchdown and one interception.

Throughout his career, Siemian has a record of 13-17 as a starter for the Denver Broncos, Jets, New Orleans Saints, and Bears.

This signing brings depth and experience to the Jets' quarterback position, providing them with a reliable option in case Wilson needs support or the team wants to make strategic changes. Siemian's familiarity with the team and his previous experience in the NFL make him a valuable addition to the Jets' roster.

Overall, this move by the New York Jets demonstrates their commitment to building a strong and competitive team. By signing Trevor Siemian, they are ensuring that they have a capable backup quarterback who can step in if needed and provide stability to the team's offense.
