"What happened to Derek Carr? Saints QB suffers shoulder injury vs. Packers, Jameis Winston enters as backup"

New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr suffered a shoulder injury and was replaced by Jameis Winston in the game against the Green Bay Packers. There are concerns about a possible concussion. Carr has had a strong start to the season with the Saints after signing a lucrative contract.

In a Week 3 showdown against the Green Bay Packers, Derek Carr, the quarterback for the New Orleans Saints, endured a significant blow early in the third quarter. The collision was so powerful that Carr struggled to regain his footing and had to be attended to by medical personnel.

Reports indicate that Carr suffered a shoulder injury and was subsequently taken to the medical tent. Later updates confirmed that he would not be returning to the game.

At the time of his departure, the Saints were leading 17-0. Carr had been performing admirably at Lambeau Field, completing 13 of his 18 passes for 103 yards and a touchdown before the devastating hit.

Immediately after being sacked by Green Bay's Rashan Gary, Carr received treatment from trainers. The impact was so forceful that his head also made contact with the ground, causing visible discomfort. There is concern that the Saints may be evaluating him for a potential concussion.

Jameis Winston, the backup quarterback, swiftly took over for Carr early in the second half.

The Saints will undoubtedly be hoping that Carr's injury is not severe. Since joining the team, the 32-year-old has made a strong impression, leading them to victories over the Tennessee Titans and Carolina Panthers.

It is worth noting that in March 2023, Derek Carr signed a lucrative four-year, $150 million contract with the New Orleans Saints. This deal included a $28,500,000 signing bonus and $100,000,000 in guaranteed money. For this year, he is expected to earn a base salary of $1,500,000.

Carr began his NFL career when he was selected by the Las Vegas Raiders in the second round of the 2014 draft. He spent nine seasons with the Raiders before joining the Saints this past offseason.

During his tenure with the Raiders, Carr amassed impressive statistics, throwing for 35,222 yards and 217 touchdowns on 3,201 passes, with a completion rate of 64.6%. Additionally, he contributed 845 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground across 142 games.
