College GameDay picks: Ohio State vs. Notre Dame - Find out who they choose

The "College GameDay" panel is split on who will win between Ohio State and Notre Dame, with some favoring the Buckeyes.

In anticipation of the highly anticipated matchup between No. 6 Ohio State and No. 9 Notre Dame, the "College GameDay" panel found themselves divided on who would come out victorious between the Buckeyes and the Fighting Irish.

Lee Corso, donning Brutus, the Ohio State mascot head, shared his personal connection to the Buckeyes. "I've worn this Brutus head 39 times," Corso revealed. "That's why it's hard for me to not choose Ohio State. However, playing against the Irish here at night presents a challenge. But it's not impossible. Give me Brutus."

Kirk Herbstreit introduced an interesting perspective by bringing up comments made by a former Ohio State assistant coach, Lou Holtz. Holtz emphasized the importance of physicality and suggested that when Ohio State faces tough teams, they struggle under Ryan Day's leadership. Holtz's advice? "Bring your lunch pail today." Herbstreit interpreted this as a rallying cry for the Buckeyes, stating, "Because you doubt Ohio State and place them in the underdog role, they will come prepared and ready to fight."

Actor Vince Vaughn, who played for Notre Dame in the movie "Rudy," showed his allegiance to his former team. Vaughn acknowledged the strength of the Buckeyes but ultimately sided with the Fighting Irish. "The Irish will prevail today," Vaughn confidently declared.

Desmond Howard based his pick on two crucial factors: the performance of the offensive lines and the trustworthiness of the quarterbacks. After careful consideration, Howard chose Notre Dame as his predicted winner.

Pat McAfee, known for his belief in the Notre Dame culture, also sided with the Fighting Irish. McAfee recognized the talent on Ohio State's roster but emphasized the unmatched capabilities of Notre Dame's players in each position.

According to BetMGM, the Buckeyes are favored by 3.5 points against the Fighting Irish.

Interestingly, the "College GameDay" team has only picked one Ohio State game in the 2023 season thus far. In the season opener against Indiana, Herbstreit, McAfee, Corso, Howard, and guest picker Darius Rucker all chose Ohio State to secure a decisive victory. Herbstreit explained that Ohio State fans are not only focused on winning this game but also preparing for their upcoming trip to South Bend in three weeks.
