Florida Gators Volleyball Dominates Clemson in Friday Match

The No. 3 Florida Gators volleyball team remains undefeated in the 2023 campaign after defeating the Clemson Tigers in straight sets.

In a thrilling match on Friday night, the No. 3 Florida Gators volleyball team emerged victorious over the Clemson Tigers, maintaining their unbeaten streak in the 2023 season. This win marks the 12th time in the program's history that the Gators have started with a 6-0 record, a feat they haven't achieved since the 2017 campaign.

The Gators dominated the first set, securing a decisive 25-15 victory. They continued their strong performance in the second set, winning 25-17. However, it was in the third set that they truly showcased their resilience and determination, making a comeback and claiming a close 26-24 win.

The key to the Gators' success in this match was their exceptional defense, as they held Clemson to a meager .077 hitting percentage. This was the lowest opponent hitting percentage the Gators have achieved this season. The team's blocking game was also outstanding, with a total of 12.5 blocks. Gabrielle Essix and Kennedy Martin led the charge with nine blocks each, a career-high for Martin. AC Fitzpatrick contributed three blocks, while Sofia Victoria and Anna Dixon each added two.

On the offensive front, Martin led the way with an impressive 14 kills, hitting at a .312 clip. Fitzpatrick, Dixon, and Victoria also made significant contributions with eight kills each.

Setting the stage for these offensive plays was Alexis Stucky, who registered 37 assists throughout the match, guiding the team to a .296 hitting percentage.

The backcourt defense was anchored by McKissock, the senior libero, who recorded 13 digs. Stucky also had a strong defensive performance with 10 digs, earning her third double-double of the season. Martin and Trinity Adams combined for 15 digs, with Martin contributing 9 and Adams adding 6.

Adams stood out in the serving department, recording two service aces, while McKissock, Martin, and Stucky each added one ace to their name.
