Ken Griffey Jr. captures Inter Miami vs. Nashville SC match as a photographer

MLB hall of famer Ken Griffey Jr. attended an Inter Miami MLS match as a pitchside photographer, showcasing his passion for photography.

Lionel Messi's arrival at Inter Miami has attracted a multitude of celebrities and sports stars to DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. However, among the notable individuals, there was one who stood out by wearing a media vest: MLB hall of famer Ken Griffey Jr.

Sporting his iconic backwards cap, Griffey attended Inter Miami's MLS match against Nashville not as a mere spectator, but as a pitchside photographer. Since retiring from baseball in 2010, Griffey has pursued his passion for photography. He has captured moments from Monday Night Football games, various MLB events, including this year's Home Run Derby in Seattle, and even an IndyCar event for ESPN in 2016.

In a 2016 interview with ESPN, Griffey expressed his love for photographing his kids' games, emphasizing the priceless expressions on their faces. He also revealed that his dream event to photograph was Olympic track and field.

Interestingly, Griffey's former Seattle Mariners teammate, Randy Johnson, also delved into photography after his playing career. Earlier this year, Johnson showcased a special exhibit at a gallery in Cooperstown, NY, which is the home of the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Griffey's connection to MLS extends beyond capturing moments on camera. In 2020, both he and his wife Melissa became investors in the Seattle Sounders. Griffey's ambition for the team is to see them achieve the same level of success as the New York Yankees, with their impressive 27 championships.

Alongside Griffey, other notable figures such as boxer Floyd Mayweather, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, and social media stars Lele Pons and Alix Earle were also present at the Miami-Nashville match. However, unlike Griffey, they were there solely as spectators, without any photographer credentials.

The presence of these renowned individuals highlights the allure and appeal of Inter Miami's matches, drawing a diverse range of personalities from different fields. It exemplifies the unique blend of sports and entertainment that captivates fans and creates an unforgettable experience for all those in attendance.
