Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. Commits to Alabama: Son of Crimson Tide Star with Nick Saban

Dre Kirkpatrick Jr., a highly-rated defensive back, has committed to the University of Alabama, following in his father's footsteps.

Dre Kirkpatrick Jr., a talented defensive back from Gadsden City High School in Alabama, has made the decision to commit to the University of Alabama. Despite receiving interest from other schools such as Missouri, Auburn, and Arkansas, Kirkpatrick ultimately chose to join the Crimson Tide. It is worth noting that Kirkpatrick, who primarily plays safety, was ranked as the 148th best cornerback in the country. Interestingly, he is also the first player to commit to Alabama whose father, Dre Kirkpatrick, previously played for the Crimson Tide under the guidance of Nick Saban.

Growing up around the NFL and being exposed to locker room environments from a young age has given Kirkpatrick a unique perspective on the game. He has had the opportunity to accompany his father on trips to Ohio, where he trained with his father's personal trainer. As a result, Kirkpatrick's father believes that Alabama will be acquiring a player who possesses similar qualities to himself, including a strong work ethic, dedication, a team-first mentality, and a desire to win championships.

Kirkpatrick's impressive performance on the field has not gone unnoticed. The Gadsden Times, a part of the USA TODAY Network, ranked him as the top defensive back in the Gadsden area. This recognition is well-deserved, considering his impressive statistics from last season. Kirkpatrick recorded 69 tackles, including 33 solo tackles and one tackle for a loss. Additionally, he showcased his skills in the passing game with three interceptions and 16 pass breakups.

Ali Smith, Kirkpatrick's coach at Gadsden City High School, who also had the opportunity to coach Kirkpatrick's father, believes that the younger Kirkpatrick possesses a similar playing style to his dad. However, Smith emphasizes that they are different players with their own unique strengths. Kirkpatrick is described as instinctive, passionate about the game, and highly knowledgeable about defensive schemes. He excels in situational football and demonstrates a strong awareness of what is happening on the field.

Not only is Kirkpatrick a talented defensive player, but he also possesses exceptional speed and talent in the return game. This makes him a valuable asset for special teams coordinators. He has consistently showcased his abilities in kickoff returns during team scrimmages and throughout previous seasons.

Above all, Kirkpatrick wants to make it clear that he is fully committed to giving his all to the Crimson Tide. He promises to approach the game with heart, respect, and maximum effort. Kirkpatrick firmly believes that as long as he can give his all, he will continue to play the game he loves.
