Nembe Chiefs Commend IGP for Restoring Peace in Bayelsa Community

Concerned citizens in Opu-Nembe, Bayelsa State commend the Inspector General of Police for dislodging hoodlums terrorizing their community.

Concerned Chiefs and citizens of Opu-Nembe in Bassambiri Kingdom, Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State have expressed their gratitude to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Egbetokun Olukayode, and other security agencies for their swift response in addressing the security challenges faced by their community. The chiefs and indigenes, united under the banner of Concern Citizens of Opu-Nembe Bassambiri, praised the recent raid conducted by a detachment of Mobile Policemen (PMF) and SWAT operatives from Force Headquarters, Abuja.

During the operation, arms and ammunition were recovered, and suspects were apprehended. This decisive action by the security forces has been hailed as a deterrent to future acts of intimidation, harassment, violence, and property destruction against the law-abiding citizens of Opu-Nembe Bassambiri.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Chief Kiengmosuote Monday-Degi addressed the media and called upon all residents who had fled the community due to safety concerns to return home. He emphasized that their prayers had been answered, and it was now safe for them to resume their legitimate activities. Chief Monday-Degi expressed deep appreciation and commendation to the Inspector General of Police and the Nigeria Police Force for their commitment to restoring peace in Opu-Nembe Community.
