Live updates: Michigan NASCAR race restart includes Chase Elliott, Kyle Busch

Charlotte Observer reporter Alex Zietlow provides live updates and analysis for the NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway.

Welcome to the live updates and analysis of the NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway. I'm Alex Zietlow, a reporter for the Charlotte Observer, and I'll be bringing you all the action from the race. If you missed any of Sunday's race, don't worry because we're picking up where we left off today.

The race is scheduled to start at 12 p.m./noon ET, but we'll be keeping an eye on the weather as there's a 40% chance of rain according to local forecasts. Fingers crossed that Mother Nature cooperates.

You can catch the race on USA Network, TSN1 for our Canadian viewers, as well as MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. As we restart the race, Tyler Reddick is leading the pack, followed closely by Alex Bowman, Kyle Larson, Martin Truex Jr. (who won Stage 1), and Erik Jones.

Even though we only completed 75 laps on Sunday, there was no shortage of on-track action. We witnessed some significant events, including Kyle Busch's early wreck that ended his day. Unfortunately, Chase Elliott also suffered a similar fate, putting a dent in his playoff hopes. William Byron and Josh Berry also had incidents that took them out of contention. It's disappointing to see these big names out of the race before Stage 2 even ended.

Based on Sunday's performance, it seems like Martin Truex Jr. is in a strong position to win this race. He dominated Stage 1 and showed great determination in Stage 2, making his way through the field after a pit-road mishap. Interestingly, he seems to have a knack for racing on Mondays. Let's see if he can maintain his momentum today.

Stay tuned for more updates as the race progresses. Refresh this page for the latest information, and we'll provide you with the full results once the race is over.
