Don Pollacco, a professor of physics at the University of Warwick, explains that during a supermoon, the moon appears bigger and brighter. It can be up to 10-15% larger and 25-30% brighter than usual. However, it's important to note that when the full moon is rising, it can appear larger due to the Earth's atmosphere and optical illusions, such as the moon appearing next to trees.

The supermoon will rise in the east at a distance of approximately 226,000 miles (363,300 km) from Earth. It will be visible shortly after sunset, so make sure to look towards the east. If you have a clear horizon, the supermoon should be easily noticeable. The moon's brightness is such that it can be seen even when it's not particularly dark or when the weather is not clear. It will remain visible throughout the night and will set in the west around sunrise.

The moon's orbital period around the Earth is approximately 29.5 days, which means that two full moons can occur in a single month. The second full moon is known as a Blue Moon, and it is often associated with rare events.
