Dodgers Roster: Tyson Miller Optioned, Lance Lynn Activated

The Los Angeles Dodgers have optioned Tyson Miller to Triple-A Oklahoma City to make room for Lance Lynn on their roster. Lynn hopes to improve his performance with the Dodgers after a challenging season with the White Sox.

In a recent move, the Los Angeles Dodgers have optioned Tyson Miller to Triple-A Oklahoma City, making room for the addition of Lance Lynn to their active roster. This decision comes after Lynn was acquired in a trade that involved Joe Kelly and sent Nick Nastrini, Jordan Leasure, and Trayce Thompson to the Chicago White Sox. Kelly, who arrived at Dodger Stadium on Saturday, made his debut with the Dodgers that same night.

Lynn, on the other hand, joined the team just in time for the series finale against the Cincinnati Reds and is set to make his debut with the Dodgers on Tuesday. In his previous season with the White Sox, Lynn had a record of 6-9 with a 6.18 ERA, 5.22 FIP, and 1.44 WHIP in 115 innings over 20 starts. Unfortunately, he allowed the most earned runs (79) and home runs (28) in the MLB. However, Lynn is hopeful that joining the Dodgers will lead to improved results.

Reflecting on his performance this year, Lynn acknowledged the ups and downs he has experienced. While his strikeouts per nine innings have been the best of his career, his ERA and wins have been the worst. Lynn believes that a change of scenery might help turn things around and is optimistic about the future.

In the meantime, the Dodgers traded for Tyson Miller on July 12, acquiring him from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for cash considerations. Miller had previously been designated for assignment by the Brewers on July 8 after appearing in seven games this season. Although he had a few scoreless appearances, Miller struggled in other games. After joining the Dodgers' Triple-A team, he only pitched three scoreless innings in two games before being called up to the major league roster on July 26.

Miller made his debut with the Dodgers in a loss against the Toronto Blue Jays, allowing three runs over two innings of relief. The 27-year-old pitcher was originally selected by the Chicago Cubs in the fourth round of the 2016 MLB Draft out of California Baptist University. He made his MLB debut with the Cubs in 2020, but only appeared in two games, with one start.

After his time with the Cubs, Miller was claimed off waivers by the Texas Rangers in May 2021. During the 2022 season, he struggled with a 10.97 ERA and 2.25 WHIP in four games, including two starts, with the Rangers.

Overall, the Dodgers are making strategic moves to strengthen their roster and improve their performance. With the addition of Lance Lynn and the development of Tyson Miller, they hope to achieve better results and make a strong push towards success.
