Mbappe's Presence Casts a Shadow on PSG's Draw Against Ronaldo-led Al Nassr

Kylian Mbappe's absence looms over PSG in goalless draw.

In a match between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Al Nassr, the absence of Kylian Mbappe loomed large over the French champions. Mbappe was unexpectedly left out of the squad before their Asian tour, sparking speculation about his future with the team. It was revealed that Al Hilal, a Saudi Arabian club, had made a world record bid of 300 million euros for the superstar striker. However, any potential transfer would require Mbappe's agreement, and he has not shown any interest in moving to the Saudi league. Other clubs, including Real Madrid, have also expressed interest in signing Mbappe.

Patrick M'Boma, a former PSG and Cameroon striker who now works with PSG's academies in Japan, expressed his disappointment and hopes for a quick resolution to the situation. Japanese fans, who had eagerly watched Messi, Mbappe, and Neymar play in friendlies for PSG last year, were less enthused this time due to the absence of the trio. Messi has joined Inter Miami, while Neymar has been recovering from a knee injury.

The impact of these changes was evident in the relatively modest crowd of 25,432 in Osaka. The match ended in a goalless draw, with neither team able to find the back of the net. PSG defender Danilo Pereira refrained from commenting on Mbappe's absence, stating that it was a decision of the club.

The closest chance for a goal came in the second minute when Carlos Soler attempted a long-range free-kick, but Al Nassr goalkeeper Nawaf Alaqidi made a save. Cristiano Ronaldo also had a few opportunities, including a denied shot from six yards and an offside acrobatic overhead kick.

The absence of Mbappe continued to dominate discussions, with suggestions that he may not be selected for an entire year if a resolution is not reached with PSG. The 24-year-old forward has one year left on his contract, and the club is keen on selling him now rather than losing him for free next summer.

PSG's next match will be against Cerezo Osaka before they face Inter Milan in Tokyo.
