Telles from Man United Reportedly Set to Join Al-Nassr

Manchester United defender Alex Telles is set to join Al-Nassr.

Manchester United left-back Alex Telles is reportedly set to join Al-Nassr on a permanent basis. Telles joined United from Porto in 2020 for a bargain price of £13.6m, which was considered a great deal at the time. However, he has struggled to replicate his previous form and has found himself behind Luke Shaw in the pecking order.

Telles has made 43 starts and seven substitute appearances for United, contributing one goal and eight assists. Despite his contributions, his overall performances have not been up to par, leading to Shaw winning the battle for the regular starting spot. As a result, Telles was loaned out to Sevilla, where he played a key role in their Europa League triumph.

Now, with one year left on his contract, Telles is back at United waiting for a decision on his future. There have been several clubs interested in signing him, including Flamengo in his native Brazil. However, Telles has publicly rejected claims that he wants to return to Portugal to play for Benfica, Porto's fierce rivals.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Al-Nassr is set to secure Telles's signature. Negotiations have taken place, and a "verbal agreement" has been reached between the two clubs. The transfer fee has not been disclosed, but this move will provide United with much-needed funds as they aim to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations and strengthen their squad.

Despite Telles's departure, United will not be signing a new left-back. They already have competition for Shaw in the form of Tyrell Malacia, and other players can fill in if needed. However, the club is still in the market for a new centre-back, with former United defender Jonny Evans joining on a short-term deal for the upcoming friendlies.

Additionally, United are eager for Harry Maguire to find a new club after being stripped of the captaincy. However, his high wages may make it difficult for him to secure a move away. Nonetheless, United remains determined to strengthen their defensive options and continue their pursuit of success.
